casual work

Thank goodness I work in a casual workplace! I don't know how I'd survive if I had to wear formal work attire. Suits and jackets make me feel butch and old, and I've decided that I'll have many many years to be old and stuffy so I'l save that stuff for later.

Casual also isn't an excuse to not iron my clothing... bad bad Sophia!

Gap top (6-7 yrs ollld)
Banana Republic skirt (has pockets! yay!)
Nine West pumps

H&M dress
Forever 21 belt (looking at this pic, I realize a skinny belt would've worked better, except that I don't own one that fits the small of my waist >_< )
Cinderella of Boston shoes (my walk to work shoes.. I walk 0.8 miles each way!)

And my usual all black ensemble w/a nonblack top thrown in (oooh soooo creative Sophia..)
H&M striped tee
Forever 21 skirt
yesstyle.com cardigan
Nine West kitten heels

There is a French woman in my office who dresses impeccably. She wears Hermes scarves, and uses Hermes scarf rings (http://bit.ly/9dZliL). I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THERE WAS SUCH THING AS A SCARF RING! She just looks expensive! But as far as her clothing goes, you know the crazy part? She wears mostly Gap and H&M! Leave it to the French to turn cheap clothing into something fabulous and chic. If that ability was for sale, I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

  2. sophia i love the first color combo-- the turquoise and the khaki is cute together!very summer appropriate. i have a yellow br dress like the one you're wearing in the 2nd pic. i think it looks fine with the thick belt. reminds me that i should wear it mine.

  3. ^Kimmy~ you're too sweet! I don't know about best dressed, but I will say that I dress better than the girl who wears Uggs to work, or the girl who wears tops with funky logo/Engrish words!

Ping ~ I like the color combo too! Makes me want to shop for more turquoise tops.

  4. I love that yellow dress. It's so chic. I didn't know there was such thing as scarf ring either. I wouldn't spend that kind of $$ on a scarf ring anyway :)

  6. I also love the first look most, I am in general a big fan of softer looks and you wore it perfectly. Give yourself more fashion credit, I bet the french girl at work must be secretly admiring your look too. :)

  7. ^Elle you're sweet :) I also think it's the accent.. having a French accent just gives one an air of fabulosity and chicness!

  8. Be careful not to wear shoes with heels that are too high to work!

  9. Erm... how do you use a scarf ring? :P And you should get a belt hole puncher! So cheap ($7) and it'll make almost any belt work!

  22. Sophia, I think these are some pretty darn cute work outfits! When I worked briefly at my old internship, I just wore plain tops and dark work pants all the time =__=;; & I'm glad you don't choose to just wear suits.. I remember what you told me at our meetup last time- we have all the rest of our life to be old and boring so it's okay to look young now :P something along those lines hehe.
