my 3 step smokey eye (lashes optional)

Another attempt at simple smokey eye.

Eye products used:
NYX Jumbo eye pencil in "Pots and Pans"
Bare Minerals shadow in "Brocade"
L'Oreal Lineur Intense Liquid Liner in "Carbon Black"

Steps:
1. Apply NYX pencil over lid.
2. Apply shadow over where you applied Step#1.
3. Line eyes

I blended with my ring finger.

*Optional: false lashes :)

Lips: NYX Summer Love

Next, I really want to take a shot at the look that frmheadtotoe blog did on Boa's makeup. I really liked the eye makeup, and thought it completely transformed their face! Somehow it made Boa look really similar to Ayumi Hamasaki..almost EurAsian (in Ayumi's case it's 'cause she's undergone so much surgery! Idk if Boa's had surgery...). Is it just me or do you think so too?

t-shirt bra, and summer shimmer eyes

I haven't bought a new bra in... oh ages haha, I can't remember the last time! Recently Ping from http://allaboutfashionstuff.blogspot.com mentioned that she loves the Victoria's Secret Angel bra, so I thought I might try it on. When I went Friday after work, there were bins of all kinds of bras for $15.99! Bras that were originally $38-48 too! I tried on about 6 different styles, the Angels one included, and found that the "Very Sexy Secret Embrace wave push-up" in 32B fit me really nicely! I tried it on with a sheer white t-shirt (also from VS, marked down from $20 to $5) which I ended up buying as well. I love this bra b/c the tops of it don't make that line through the shirt.. and I think it's b/c of the thin scalloped edges.

I still can't use my laptop so I'm using phone pics instead of digicam :\

No bra lines yay!

This is what the bra looks liks:

I also played around with my Physicians Formula bronze shimmer strips in "Miami" and made a REALLY simple eye look. I've been using for a year now as a cheek bronzer, but the other day idk why I decided to try it on my eyes.

Here's what I did: use my ring finger to swipe the top 2 colors and placed under my brow, then use the same ring finger to swipe the bottom 2 colors and place on my lid, so that it connects with the top 2 colors. Doing this creates a really light, bright and shimmery eye.

Dropped the darn palette and lost the cover :(
The top 2 colors are really nice for highlighting:
The 4 colors on my eye ~ excuse the smudged liner, that's what inevitably happens when I use Bobbi Brown :\

Hard to capture the colors on camera, but it's very light and good if you're the "natural face" makeup type of person.

Funny pic :p I was trying to take pics of my nudy blue contacts so I can put together a youtube slideshow. Here's a funny pic, that looks nothing like me. I find it so interesting that depending on angle and expression you can take a photo of yourself that looks nothing like the real you.

too easily influenced

Before I ever read any beauty blogs, or watched any makeup videos on youtube, I didn't own any lipsticks, false lashes, circle lens, or blushes. Now, I own many lipsticks, 2 pairs of circle lens (3 more pairs on the way from Hime Eyes!!!), tons of falsies, and just picked up my first few blushes this week :) I guess you could say that I'm easily influenced.. but aren't we all? After all, that's what marketing is all about. By putting a beauty product on a gorgeous celebrity, companies are signaling to all the women out there that if they use the same product, they can achieve a bit of that celebrity's beauty!

I am most influenced by the makeup guru Holly Ann-aeree. I think I am like borderline obsessed with her hahaha. Whenever she swears by a product, I want to get it! As long as it's drugstore haha. Any high end products (YSL, MUFE, MAC) I refuse to buy... She also always wears circle lens, and the ones I like more on her are the Geo Angel grey. I finally got my pair, and wore them today. I love these lens!! They are dolly and very easy to match with all outfits. Also a lot more comfortable than the nudy blue.

*All photos completely unedited (haha as if I knew how to..)
**lens sent as a gift from http://www.k-circlelens.net/ because I reviewed the first pair I purchased from them

I took photos by my window today, and I love the lighting effect!

Wearing pa lashes gifted to me from my sister ^_^

How the lens look in direct sun light ^

How the lens look facing away from direct sun light ^

Few more lens pics here

When I saw Holly's video on the new Revlon super lustrous glosses, I really wanted to get them! I got Coral Reef, and Lilac Pastel. The Pink Pop was too bubble gum pink for me. This was my first time buying a coral shade lip product, and I am in looove! The Coral Reef gloss is VERY pigmented, more than some lipsticks! It's very sticky feeling, but also goes on very thinly on to the lips (a good thing, in my opinion as I don't like thick, goopy glosses). It lasts for quite awhile too. The lilac looked terrible on me, but I gave it to my sister and it looks amazing on her.

nyx lipstick swatches.wmv

Happy Friday y'all!

So the other day this song I like popped into my head, and I just had to listen to it on youtube! Only problem is I don't know the title or artist, but I know it's a current song on a top radio station.

So I g-chat my gf and ask her, "Hey do you know this song.. the lyrics are, 'I've waited, I've waited'" ... Me: "And there's another line that goes 'I've waited all my life'" .... (realizing that I'm being super vague and unhelpful) As I'm trying to google these lyrics, both of us are struggling to figure it out, and all the while the song is blaring in my head. I'm coming up with search results of Ryan Cabrera's song "True", which is totally NOT the song. And there are thousands of songs out there with lyrics like "I've waited all my life" haha.. go figure.

And then FINALLY, I'm like, "OMG! It's the song from The City! I can find it!" It's the Kevin Rudolph song with a bunch of ghetto rappers (ew).

Turns out he's singing, "I've made it" and not "Ive waited". LOL.

Anyways, moving on.

The title of this post is not a lie!

Here's a 1-2 min video on my NYX lipsticks. I always find it helpful when I'm googling images of lip colors to see it on the lips (obviously), and also against the rest of the face so that I'll know which shades go well with which skin tone.

My lips are pretty pigmented red... I didn't use any lip concealers ~ all l/s were applied straight onto my lips. Also show the l/s on a white paper towel LOL. Well I didn't want to swatch them on my arm!

In order:

[starting with round l/s]
*Circe (good to combine w/another l/s)
*Orange Soda (love!)
*Pumpkin Pie (hmm.. it's mehhh)
*Summer Love (loooove it! Thanks to my sister for recommending)
*Harmonica (hmmm..having trouble thinking of when this l/s would be appropriate...)
*Strawberry Milk (cheaper alternative to Heiress. Very nice milky finish)

[black label l/s]
*Heiress (REALLY easy to apply. It's practically foolproof! Feels similar to MAC Gaga)
*India (fav l/s. It's like milky pinky peachy)

geo nudy blue lens

I decided to do a picture and video post while I'm out here in Boston for the Geo nudy blue lens I posted about last week. Here are some still images, followed by the video. (note~ all photos are completely unedited, except the pic of my grey dress haha... I brightened it a ton).

I think I forgot to mention astigmatism in my video.... so basically I have astigmatism, and I have to wear hard rigid gas permeable lens. They keep the curvature of my eye... or something like that. If I wear soft lens, my astigmatism will worsen (my eyes have improved from wearing hard lens.. they are better today than they were 10 years ago). However, my astigmatism is on the mild side, so I do NOT need to wear toric lens. I'm not sure how astigmatism is measured, but if you have it and are interested in wearing circle lens, definitely consult your eye doctor first!! I called my eye doctor and that's how I found out.

My new camera records HD video, so you can watch in HD! I'm not sure what that means haha.. but it sounds good! Uhm and I was sitting on a medicine ball so I may "bounce" a bit at times ahahaha..

I got the lens from http://k-circlelens.net/ :)

This is the dress I'm wearing in the video, from Wet Seal (was on sale for like $15!!). It has bows and peepholes in the back :) I have on St. Tropez on my body, and lots of bronzer on my face so I wouldn't stand out in my usual blinding pastiness. Girls in Boston are extremely tan!!! Well, everyone except the MIT kids.. they're all super pasty :\
Here are images of the lipsticks that I mention in the video, pictured on my lips. Will add pics for Baby Pink later....

NYX Strawberry Milk - indoors
NYX Strawberry Milk - outdoors, and 2 layers applied
NYX Orange Soda - outdoors
This last lipstick is Revlon "Radiant Ruby", gifted to me from the sweet Michelle (http://xbeyondmex.blogspot.com/). Thank you for the love package ~ I adored everything!
Coincidentally, I'd been curious about wearing a red lipstick, so I was very excited to try it on. I love it, it makes me feel like snow white!!
And in outdoor lighting:
I think this is my least wordy post to date. Will write more when I return to SF!

notice anything dif? ;) and i still shop at teenager shops...

Why yes, yes my eyes naturally turn blue in the sunlight ;) Hehehehe... that is my pretend response to someone asking me if my eyes are naturally blue :) I know that all you blogger girls know all about lens and stuff, but you'd be surprised about people in the real world! One of my Asian gf wore false lashes to my cousin's wedding (hi Ping! I hope you read my blog hehehe!), and the people at our table said "nice lash!" and were surprised when she said they were fake. Uhm hello! What Asian girl has long spiky lashes and any eye color BUT brown?! Buahahahahahaha!

I'm wearing Geo nudy blue from k-circlelens.net ... full review coming soon. I ordered several pairs of circle lens from Serenie (http://himeeyes.blogspot.com) who is like one of the coolest bloggers evarr, but since it was a batch order and I wanted to be sure to have a pair before my Boston trip I ordered these. I LOOOOOVE blue contacts!! OMG you don't know how sad I was to have to take them off :( My absolute favorite look is blue eyes, pink lips, and blonde hair (uhm.. Barbie?). I don't know why. Wait, yes I do. Years of socialization by media :) I love the fake look. Like really I do. When I was in high school I thought import girls were soooo pretty, and I loved their fake hair and tits. Wearing these lens made me want to run out and bleach in some platinum hi-lites, put on a skimpy white dress and super high heels. The lucite kind. JK! *sigh* What's wrong with me?
I did some shopping recently too. I went a couple of months where I didn't want to buy ANY clothes at all. And then this past month, BAM! I wanted to buy things left and right. And I love shopping online, and scouring for sales. I happened to browse Hollister Co., and spotted a dress and cardigan on sale for like $15 each. They arrived today! Woohoo! I only own like, 1 or 2 summer dresses, so been wanting to stock up. Looks a bit funny with pumps... but I stopped wearing flip flops with dresses after college.. I need to shop for some casual sandals...

Front of dress.
Size XS
Hollister Co.
(Yes my legs are pasty. I bought some St. Tropez this weekend ($40/bottle ouch >.<)! Haven't tried it yet, but when I do I will take many before + after pics and do a review!)

The back.
Cardigan.
Size XS
So soft and warm!

I got this trench from Forever21 on sale for like $17, plus shipping for like $6? Anyways, I have 2 Bebe trenches, which I've come to HATE. All their trenches are too LONG, and hit at my knee, which I find super unflattering. But I keep wearing them b/c they're supposed to be good quality brand, and I paid $100-$150 each, I forget. My mom is going to hem them... I think a shop would charge like $50 each coat... Anyways, I really like this Forever 21 trench! It even has lining ~ I was pleasantly surprised! On the model it hits like right below her crotch hahaha.

Size XS
Forever21
Did some major damage at the Napa outlets this past weekend too... there's a BCBG, BCBG Final Cut (GREAT bargains ~ dresses retailing for $200+ are only $19!!), Banana Republic, makeup shop (sells MAC, Bobbi Brown, etc), Barney's, Gap

The Nine West there had tons of size 5! I headed to the sales rack and picked up these shoes which were $29.99 each, and Buy 1 Get 1 1/2 off:

They're a taupe color... sorry my phone cam didn't quite pick up the color. Size 5, and still so big :( I need to go buy some insoles!

Nine West

And this is why I love slingbacks! You can tighten them down to fit you :) I've been really wanting camel color shoes, and so glad I got these!
Nine West
Ahhh I just love the way camel color looks on skin!! Hah it's a good thing my phone is low megapixel, I haven't shaved in a bit hahahahaha (I have hairy legs for an Asian T_T )
Do any of you own the nubra? Does it really stick? And how many times can you use it? The hollister dress, and 2 others that I ordered from Wet Seal have the type of back that will show bra straps. I just worry about the nubra falling down and making it look like I have boobs coming out my stomach O.O Or worse, falling down to the ground and I'd have to pick it up in front of everyone. OMG how embarrassing would that be!!!!
